Whether it’s the day of the Irish, one of the most popular running races in the nation, or time to celebrate our nation’s freedom, Savannah is where it’s at. Our great city provides an exquisite backdrop to all of the best festivities. Choose the Suites at Bay when visiting the city for one of these great events.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festivities
Savannah is the place to go for St. Patrick’s Day, with the third largest parade in the world and celebrations going on all month long. The fun begins in Forsyth Park for the Greening of the Fountain, where you can watch as the flowing clear waters become emerald green. Then it continues with the St. Patrick’s Day Festival, Tara Feis Irish Celebration, and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which attracts thousands of guests that cheer as floats, bands, dancers, Irish groups and societies march by. Live performances, foods, games, and activities, all with Irish themes, are part of this amazing tradition that should not be missed.
4th of July Festival
Nothing says 4th of July like fireworks over a beautiful river. In Savannah, the 4th of July is celebrated with grandeur. See spectacular fireworks right in front of the downtown Historic District. Before the fireworks begin, take a walk down River Street where many local vendors are selling their original pieces.
You’ll feel patriotic when you’re celebrating in one of America’s oldest and best cities. You and your family can reflect on America’s history as you picnic at Fort McAllister. Rich with history, Civil War troops will honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Another option is to head to Tybee Island to watch the fireworks from the beach as they launch from the pier. One thing is for sure: you have a lot of fantastic choices on the 4th of July in Savannah!

There may not be a more beautiful marathon. With Spanish moss covered oaks and stunning colonial architecture, you’ll love running through downtown Savannah. Take in the historical landmarks and majestic town squares as you race your way towards the finish line. Health and Fitness Expos, big name live entertainment, and the energy of the spectators add to the excitement of the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon.
Food & Wine Festival
Coastal venues combine to provide an unbelievable southern culinary experience at the annual Food & Wine Festival. Celebrity Chef Tours and a Taste of Savannah are just two of the events you’ll want to take in. This activity takes place in November and runs for a whole week. Some of the city’s best chefs and most awarded restaurants come together to celebrate this artistic showcase of food and wine. Foodies will never want to leave the Food & Wine Festival.
